Go Green Challenge

What is the CREB® Go Green Challenge?

The CREB® Go Green Challenge is a 12-month pilot program, running through June 2011, designed to get REALTORS®, consumers and corporate partners working together to reduce the ecological impacts of Calgary homes.

The program introduces new energy rating and rating date fields to the Mutiple Listing Service (MLS®) System that identify a home's energy efficiency based on the EnerGuide rating system. EnerGuide for Houses is a Canadian program developed by the Office of Energy Efficiency of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). EnerGuide includes a house energy evaluation, including tests to find air leakage and the energy efficiency of its heating.

By using a CREB® Go Green REALTOR® home sellers will be able to promote the energy efficiency of their home and homebuyers will be able to search for homes that include energy ratings. It is the goal of the program to have at least 2,500 homes rated using the EnerGuide rating system within 12 months. You can help us meet and even exceed this goal!

Why become a CREB® Go Green Challenge Partner?

The CREB® Go Green Challenge offers a great opportunity to reach environmentally-conscious consumers through a growing number of 'green' REALTORS®. On average, Calgary REALTORS® collectively sell more than 25,000 homes every year. The CREB® Go Green Challenge is a great chance to reach those consumers through Calgary's network of REALTORS®!

By sponsoring the CREB Go Green Challenge you will:
  • Strengthen your brand as an environmentally friendly organization and reach out to the growing number of consumers looking for green products and services.
  • Gain valuable exposure with REALTORS® and consumers through media coverage, advertising, special coverage in the Calgary Real Estate News (CREN®) and Home-to-Home magazine, consumer marketing materials, community orientation sessions and the CREB® Go Green website.
  • Encourage consumers to 'go green' by obtaining an EnerGuide rating for their home and learning how they can improve the energy efficiency of their home.
  • Be at the forefront of promoting energy efficiency by participating in one of the first programs of its kind in Canada.
